Dr. Logan's Story

I grew up on a horse farm in Newtown surrounded by all manner of dogs, cats, goats and horses. In the year after I graduated from Dickinson College with a B.A. in Political Science, I found myself working in the world of banking and finance!  How did I end up wearing a suit to work every day?

Having spent my childhood with farm dirt under my nails, it was time for me to listen to my heart and get back to what I loved: caring for animals and people.  The moment I made this decision almost 30 years ago, I applied to vet school. Four years later, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. I then completed a one-year fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at Penn and headed into private practice.

For over 15 years, I provided high quality veterinary care in the hospital setting for my patients and their families.  My switch to mobile veterinary practice 14 years ago has allowed me to continue to develop professional medical relationships while offering a unique way to bring health care to pets in their own homes.  By seeing patients at home, I was able to care for pets who lacked transportation, whose owners had busy schedules, or who were too anxious for a clinic visit.

As I move away from routine care, I plan to continue to provide comfort and care to animals and people.  I know that I don't want to leave those pets who are nearing the end their lives with a stressful trip the veterinary hospital.  I started Gentle Goodbyes At Home so I can provide at-home euthanasia to pets whose families want to give them their final gift in a comfortable environment at home.
